2019
Two months of back-grinding missions; – back to back: January – Feb 2019
1) Our 1st Para Excellence Awards and Lunch Banquet for the War Amputees in the Western Area to mark the 20th Anniversary of January 6 ( #J6)
2) Multifaceted Medical Mission for 200 war amputees at 3 Districts.
3) Hygiene Packs Distribution to over 100 teenage girls.
4) Counselling and Medical treatment to 30 rape victims from the War.

After 9 years of educating children in Sierra Leone, our charitable activities became a Nationwide rollout in 2017 and we are humbled by the hundreds of lives we reached and supported through Health and Education. Three hundred and fifty children and youths living in the North, South, East and West of Sierra Leone have been empowered to go to Schools, Colleges and Universities in 2017/18 Academic year.
RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
April 2017’s Sevenfold Mission
Melqosh executed 5 Medical Missions in Freetown, Newton, Magburaka, Bo and Lungi. We also held a Fun Day for Ebola Orphans and a successful Crusade at Lungi. In addition, we have fully paid the school fees for one child or orphan from every war-amputee household in Freetown, the Capital for 2016/17 Academic year.
EDUCATION
Melqosh provides Educational Sponsorship to children of marginalised war afflicted amputees and orphans of the deceased amputees, to enable them to gain better opportunities and lead meaningful lives (as their disadvantaged parents cannot pay their school/ college/university fees . This Educational Sponsorship Programme has been in operation since 2008. In September 2016, the mission sponsored 40 children of war amputees, plus 2 young amputees into Secondary schools and 2 amputees into University.
HEALTH
June 2016 – Medical Mission for Amputees, Widows, Orphans and Children of Amputees. We executed a two-fold Medical Mission, the first at Bo partnering with 15 U.S. doctors and the second was a Mobile Healthcare mission, treating the sick at Hastings, Waterloo, Newton and Mile Saika amputee camps.
POST EBOLA TRIP- FOOD AID PROGRAMME
February 2016 – We embarked on our 1st trip to Sierra Leone since 2014 and gifted a bag of rice and monetary gifts each to all amputees, widows and orphans at Grafton, Jui, Rokel, Hastings, Newton, Hastings, Waterloo 55, Waterloo Beguma Rd Amputee Camps plus three other amputee locations. Provided finance to facilitate the medical costs of sick amputees and continued our Educational Sponsorship Programme for orphans and young war amputees.
Christmas Mission 2015 – Rendering a bag of rice and monetary gifts to all amputee households at all our amputee locations.
Continuity of our Educational Sponsorship Programme after the Government of Sierra Leone reopened public Schools, Colleges and Universities in September 2015.
Christmas Ebola Mission 2014 was a four-fold country wide project, providing relief in the Capital and the Provinces. This drive included donating bags of rice to our beneficiaries, plus PPE supplies and monetary gifts as a continuity of our annual Christmas projects in Sierra Leone. Our project also rendered monetary gifts and provisions for Ebola orphans in Freetown and the Provinces. We successfully completed ten Ebola –related missions in Sierra Leone between July 2014 to March 2015 and continued our ESP mission in April 2015.
October 2014 – Executed the third phase of the Ebola Mission, distributing thousands of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to war Amputees
July 2014 – Launched an Ebola Crisis Food Aid Programme, donating bags of rice, gallons of oil, packs of clean water and monetary gifts to amputees, their families, orphans and widows at 10 amputee locations/camps at Grafton, Jui, Rokel, Hastings, Newton, Hastings, Waterloo 55, Waterloo Beguma Rd Amputee Camps plus three other amputee locations. Distributed anti-bacterial products to our beneficiaries. Several fundraising activities were undertaken to make our missions possible.
January 2014 – Our charity reached a significant landmark by establishing the first IT Academy and Supplementary School in Sierra Leone for children of the amputees (including orphans of deceased amputees) to provide them with better educational, life-changing opportunities and a competitive edge.
Past Achievements
Melqosh also has been rendering Empowerment Sessions to the amputees since 2008, to renew their mind-set, revive their self-worth and regenerate a hope for their future despite their disabilities. In the last nine years, we have also been providing Medicare, clothing, crutches, food and monetary gifts to war afflicted amputees and their children, widows and orphans of deceased amputees in the provinces and 7 Amputee camps in the Western Area during our annual or bi-yearly missions in Sierra Leone.
RECENT MISSIONS
Melqosh rendered a landmark mission in Sierra Leone by providing free medical interventions to war in Freetown, (the Capital) for the first time since the war officially ended in 2002.
Since then, Melqosh has executed five-fold Medical Missions in Freetown, Newton, Magburaka, Bo and Lungi; covering the Capital, Northern and Southern Province of the country. In addition, the mission held a Fun Day for Ebola Orphans, a successful Crusade at Lungi and has fully paid the school fees for one child or orphan from every war-amputee household in Freetown, the Capital for the Academic year.
